A Westminster treasure hunt makes a superb corporate away day. It is fun, sociable and everyone is involved from start to finish, unlike conventional events.

For evening entertainment after one of the teams has won their 'treasure', the main West End theatre district is conveniently located within the City of Westminster. Leicester Square is a massive cinema district and you may even be able to coincide your visit with a red carpet film premier.

Many London corporate away days involve being in a hotel or conference venue all day. With a scavenger hunt, your staff can enjoy being outdoors and discover the heart of London. Even those who think they have seen it all will be surprised by what they have missed!

Westminster itself was originally built on an islet (Thorney Island) in the Thames, at the confluence with the river Tyburn. It was a pleasant place, surrounded by fields and Westminster abbey was founded and flourished, despite many raids over the years. These days, there is no sign of the original green fields, they have been developed, nor is there any sign of the original Thorney Island. Following the Norman invasion, Westminster Palace became the seat of the Monarchs of England.

London's main finance area is built on the original Roman settlement, with St Paul's the main vocal point, much of the original parts were destroyed by the great fire of London at Pudding land when 277 acres were destroyed, then during World War II this area was bombed.

The City area is now deserted at night as few people live in the area unlike earlier Victorian times. Bank area with the many big institutions, Mansion House home of the Lord Mayor of London and still holds a small prison.

As you wander around Bank area marvel at the architecture the magnificent creations of Wren from St Mary's abchurch to St Stephens Walbrook, which was an experiment for the St Paul's dome. Directly south of St Pauls is the college or arms, which received its royal, charter in 1484 and still assesses family claims to British family coats of arms. And just down the road is the modern day venue wine tuns this is an ideal venue for treasure hunts to eat and drink and compare results.
