Preston was granted city status at the turn of the millenium and is the administrative seat of Lancashire. The end point of the hunt is Blackpool, most noted as a holiday resort. The first mention of Blackpool was in the early 1600s, prior to that the land was sparsely populated and sujected to periodic flooding by the sea. Visitors first arrived by coach in the mid 16th century and the town began to develop more and more as a resort during early Victorian times. It was a popular destination with textile factory workers from both Yorkshire and Lancashire during the late 18th and early 19th century. What better place to finish your hunt and then take in the sense of Victorian and Edwardian history.
