Another top location for a treasure hunt - explore the heart of the capital city of the UK, London. London, as we know it, effectively began in Roman times. It is conceivable that earlier settlement occurred but to date, there is, we believe, no evidence for anything major. Some timbers, dated at about 3500 years before present suggest that there could have been an early bridge or maybe a landing stage. Londinium, as London was known in Roman times, was founded on the present site of the city of London, a few years after Claudius' invasion of AD43. It is now thought to have been a civilian settlement rather than military. It was destroyed by Queen Boudicca (Bodicea) about 10 years later, but in true London Fashion, it bounced back. London has bounced back on many other occasions too, after the Plague, the Great Fire of London, the Blitz on London during the second world war and more recently IRA and other terrorist attacks. There is little need to mention the key sites in London such as London Tower, London Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, Houses of Parliament etc, suffice it to say that some of these could possibly be seen on one of our London Treasure Hunts - Corporate treasure hunts or treasure hunts for private parties are both available.
