Chester Treasure Hunt ...

Chester is an historical city with the largest surviving Roman amphitheatre and most complete city walls in the UK.

The city of Chester has an interesting past both commercially and as a military centre. It had a major network of guilds, with many skilled tradesmen, and for quite a while Chester was one of the most important seaports in the country. During Roman times, Chester was a major centre and boasts the amphitheatre, only discovered in 1929 by accident. Luckily, thanks to a public outcry, already existing road plans (which would have driven a road right through the centre of the monument) were changed. It was still a key military stronghold at time of the Civil War. The city walls are probably the most complete set of walls in the country and have their origins during Roman times, when the fort was built. They were reused bu the Normans and during the civil war were damaged. They were rebuilt just after the civil war and in the 18th century, promenading the walls was a popular pastime.

Chester is lucky that a lot of it's history is still on show. The city has the most complete set of City Walls, and the largest uncovered Roman amphitheatre in the country. The buildings have retained their unique character with some of the oldest shop frontages in the world.

What better way to experience the heritage of Chester with an on-foot treasure hunt. Ideal as a corporate event or team building exercise.
