Birmingham is a thriving, vibrant university city with some great architecture both old and new.
Birmingham is the largest of England's core cities, and is often considered to be the second city of the United Kingdom. It is part of the larger West Midlands conurbation and has grown over the years, subsuming the towns and cities nearby. It is sometimes referred to as part of the Black Country although that is not strictly true.
The Birmingham area may well have been settled during earlier times but it was in Anglo Saxon times that the nucleus of the present city was established as a farming Hamlet. Over the next 6 centuries, it had developed sufficiently to merit the granting of a Royal Charter to hold a market - eventually known as the Bull Ring.
Within the next 400 years, coal and iron ore meant that Birmingham would develop as a centre of metalworking which laid the foundations for its subsequent development as a centre for engineering industries. The city was one of the many at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution, which led to Birmingham being known as "the workshop of the world" (and a few other things too!) . Canals carried the raw materials and finished product to cities and the other regions of Birmingham, the Black Country and what is now known as the West Midlands.
During the second world war the centre was badly damaged and during the 20 years following the war, Birmingham city centre was extensively redeveloped in typical 50s and 60s style - not to the taste of everyone! However, the city centre of that era is now hardly recognisable with more recent redevelopment to bring Birmingham into the 21st century.

About your West Midlands & Black Country treasure hunt in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich ...
The Birmingham corporate entertainment, team building treasure hunt takes place either on foot in Birmingham itself or by car, outside of the city, where you can explore the local villages in order to find the answers and complete the tasks. Both the car and on foot treasure hunt will require careful planning by the team before you set off, in order to collect sufficient answers and to avoid heavy time penalties. There are always far more clues than your team could possibly answer in the time available. You will have various photographic tasks to complete and you can also use the digital cameras that we lend you to take extra pictures as a memory of the day. All images will be collated onto a CD ROM to provide you with a lasting memory of your event.
